You Remind Me of My Sempai...

Poor unlucky-in-love Mako-chan! Well, at least she is in the anime. In both versions, Makoto's personality is similar-- she is brash at times but attempts to soften her perceived harsh exterior with feminine activities and she is definately prone to ferocious crushes when she meets a new cute guy.

In the anime, Makoto pines after her mysterious unrequited love of the past her "Sempai" and every cute male she encounters (and one cute female- ie Haruka) are all subjected to comparison to this mystery sempai. Motoki, the Three Lights, Ail and Mamoru's 2nd alter-ego Tsukikage no Knight (Moonlight Knight) were all pined for over in the series.

In the manga, Makoto admits that a large reason she moved to the area was to escape a broken heart from her Sempai. After that she is still as boy-crazy as the anime version, but she references her Sempai quite a bit less. In the manga, she seems to care deeply about Asanuma Ittou (he is the one features on this layout) and he tends to care for her. But, like all the inner guardians, Makoto is destined to not have any real true love and instead have only duty.
