Though born in Hiroshima, she was raised in Okinawa Prefecture. Mew was named after Kyoko Koizumu's famous song 'MEW of dawn' and signs her name with the Roman spelling Mew. Prior to working on PGSM, she was a member of the dance idol group B.B. Waves but graduated from the group in the year 2000.
Like Keiko, Mew won the title of Miss Seventeen and had an exclusive modeling contract with the Japanese Seventeen Magazine. She also had an acting role in a music video, Echiura's "Taisetsu na Omoide" [roughly translates to 'Precious Memories']
On Pretty Guardian Sailormoon:
As Sailor Jupiter, her cast members noted that she was personally very lady-like and not much like her tomboy character, Makoto (though the boys noted that she was an excellent cook, just like Mako-chan).
Mew also stated that she found some of the stunts she had to perform difficult on the show, specifically having to be talented with sports and coordinated, being that she is not actually an athletic individual. She mentioned that her mother actually told her she looked awkward in some scenes. Mew also said that she had to be coached a bit on her vocal inflections so that she was less demure and more outspoken and authoritative as Mako-chan.
Projects following PGSM:
Mew has been mostly involved with a healthy modeling career following PGSM, and worked for Non-No and CanCam magazines (mainstream fashion magazines) with exclusive modeling contracts. Mew was also in the Tokyo Girls Collection 2007 Spring/Summer fashion show as one of the top 70 models. She has done several other modeling projects as well, including commercials for various products.
